Keeping Values & Sharing Stories @Claremont
November 14, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 7:45 pm

Native People lived in California for thousands of years. They had no books, and indeed no written language. Yet complex stories were passed down from one generation to the next, skills were transmitted without instruction manuals, children were taught what they needed to know. The retention and transmission of knowledge, beliefs, and values are essential to the survival of a culture, too important to be left to chance. Malcolm Margolin will tell stories and give examples of how people kept knowledge and transmitted values in a world without books or schools.
